Winter 2015 BASE Camp Christmas Party

This holiday season, the Guardians of Justice attended one of our merriest events yet! On Friday, December 18th, our Smile­ Makers came together for BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation’s annual Christmas Party.BaseCamp_Winter_2015_48 The event was full of holiday spirit with children and families alike celebrating Christmas and the end of another great year.

BaseCamp_Winter_2015_64Guardians of Justice teamed up with our friends from Once Upon a Party to bring around 28 characters to join us for this festive event! Princesses including Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel were there posing for photos and dancing the night away with the kids.

BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation hosts a twice-a-year event for the kids and their families. We have been very fortunate to be invited to join in on these events for over a year now. However, December 2015’s event was the biggest one we have attended yet. Along side the company Once Upon a Party, around 28 characters were in attendance, including everything from 7 fairy friends, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, and even Deadpool. Guardians Attend 5th Annual OaSN Christmas Party

Guardians of Justice members spread some holiday cheer at Outreach autism Services Network’s Christmas party hosted in Ocala this past weekend. Although it was a small group for such an occasion OASN_Dec_2015_3during this most wonderful time of the year, Rogue and Black Widow were able to share and experience quality moments with over 80 families in attendance. We laughed, we smiled, we danced, we ate pizza. So. Much. Pizza.

First Annual Autism Burns Fall Festival

In the afternoon of Sunday, November 8th, Guardians of Justice answered the call to support Autism Burns- Firefighters for Autism Awareness. These brave first-responders hosted their Fall Festival atAutismBurn_2015_58 the Orlando Fire Museum to provide family fun and raise autism awareness.

Firefighters for Autism Awareness works to enable healthier, happier and more productive lifestyles by utilizing firefighters experiences and networks to assist families with support, education, and coping with the challenges of raising children on the autistic spectrum.

Step Up for Down Syndrome Orlando 2015

On Saturday, October 24th members of Guardians of Justice joined scores of volunteers and participants (and a few other costumed characters!) for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida’s annual walk Step Up for Down Syndrome Orlando. BuddyWalk_2015_14According to the DSACF Orlando is host to one of the largest walks in the nation and Saturday’s Step-Up for Down Syndrome event was no exception. Even before the day of the walk their top five teams had already raised over $30,000.00!

Be A Hero 5K

On a foggy Saturday morning, our Guardians headed out to UCF’s Memory Mall to join in on the festivities of BASE Camp’s “Be A Hero 5K”.  BeAHero5k_2015_23BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation provides year-round support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. All proceeds from the race went directly to BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. Childhood Cancer effects an estimated 13,400 children each year. Even when the Cancer is overcome the latent effects of treatment have an impact on survivors for a lifetime. We may not yet have a cure for the disease but BASE Camp’s programs provide treatment for the soul.

Tons of Fun at Christmas in July with BASE Camp

Members of the Guardians of Justice crew were back at it again this weekend, making an appearance at BASE Camp’s Christmas in July event this past Friday, July 24th at Rosen Shingle Creek. This was BASE Camp’s 18thBaseCamp_July_2015_3 annual event of this kind where children battling cancer and their families can all get together to celebrate a wonderful evening of music, dancing, and prizes along with tons of other yummy food and snacks. Rogue, one of our own, even boasted that it was quite possibly the BEST mac & cheese she’s ever had. Santa also made the trip down from the North Pole sporting a Floridian-inspired vacation ensemble and was available for photo-ops with the little ones.

A Fun Saturday with Orlando Outreachers at Harbor House

The weather was warm, the sun was shining and five unlikely heroes met up with volunteers from Orlando Outreachers for a Summer sports day held exclusively for local at-risk children and teens last Saturday, July 18th.

We had two amazing bounce houses, a dunk tank and multiple carnival-style arcade games. Face painting and balloon twisting was a hit. Soon Hulks, Ironmen and various Faries and Kitty Cats ran around with balloon swords, hats, and animals. Great Fun Had at Nathaniel’s Hope Make ‘m Smile!

On Saturday June 6, 2015 in Downtown Orlando at Lake Eola Park, Nathaniel’s Hope hosted an annual community festival celebrating kids with special needs. The Nathaniel’s Hope mission is to share hope with kids with special needs (VIP kids) and their families. This event was the 13th Annual Make ‘m Smile festival with over 40,000 in attendance!NathanielsHope_2015_13 The Guardians of Justice were there to help Empower, Inspire, Motivate, and most importantly support the children.
