Guardians Assemble For Third Annual Syfy Bartow

For the third year in a row the quaint, down-home town of Bartow has thrown an amazingly nerdy celebration of epic proportions.  SyFy Bartow Feb 20 2016 058SyFy Bartow is an outdoor only science-fiction convention and car show that encompasses three full city blocks and is chock full of fun for all age groups. Featuring a costume contest, karaoke, outdoor movie, DJ, and more the event is hosted by Sean Serdynski –a man who genuinely loves both sci-fi and the town in which he lives.

Guardians of Justice was ecstatic to join an event that has grown exponentially over the past three years.

BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation hosts a twice-a-year event for the kids and their families. We have been very fortunate to be invited to join in on these events for over a year now. However, December 2015’s event was the biggest one we have attended yet. Along side the company Once Upon a Party, around 28 characters were in attendance, including everything from 7 fairy friends, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, and even Deadpool. Enjoy the photos from the event and our officially blog post will follow soon. 🙂

Be A Hero 5K

On a foggy Saturday morning, our Guardians headed out to UCF’s Memory Mall to join in on the festivities of BASE Camp’s “Be A Hero 5K”.  BeAHero5k_2015_23BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation provides year-round support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. All proceeds from the race went directly to BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. Childhood Cancer effects an estimated 13,400 children each year. Even when the Cancer is overcome the latent effects of treatment have an impact on survivors for a lifetime. We may not yet have a cure for the disease but BASE Camp’s programs provide treatment for the soul.

Cadets Graduate from Superhero Training Academy!

The Lake Wales Public Library was the site for 78 parents and children graduating on Thursday, July 16 from the Superhero Training Academy.

SuperHeroTraining_2015_2The cadets had to complete a checklist of six tasks. The first assignment was the creation of their capes and masks then faced the following challenges… Our heroes-to-be had to practice their Spidey skills rescuing the baby by crossing a flaming pool over a very narrow bridge and back. Then it was Superman strong as they worked to lift the mighty muscle weights FIVE times. Endurance was tested as cadets maneuvered barefoot over the LEGO walk of fire and progressed to a test of skill.
