Autism Space Walk with Autism Society of Greater Orlando

Guardians of Justice were so excited to be invited to participate as entertainment for our 3rd annual Autism Walk with the Autism Society of Greater Orlando. This event has become a yearly favorite for many of our member which is easily seen by our large group in attendance.

In previous years the home of ASGO’s Autism Walk took place at the Orange County Convention Center in the month of April. This year, it seemed to be time for a change. The event relocated for 2017 to the Orlando Science Center. The new location offered tons of new activities for attendees to take advantage of. Participants and characters all enjoyed playing with all of the great learning opportunities available during the event.

Benefiting The Autism Community

ASGO’s yearly Autism walk is set to benefit the Autism community in the Central Florida Area. For 2017, it looks as if there has been around $12,000 raised. The event is a great opportunity to also form invaluable Autism connections, gather resources, and make friends.

ASGO’s Background

ASGO was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteer parents to better assist families of children and adults with autism in the Central Florida area.  The mission or goal of the ASGO is that all individuals within the autism spectrum will be provided a lifetime network of opportunities to become fully accepted, included, and actively participating members of our community, through family support, education, advocacy, and public awareness.

Guardians at the Autism Space Walk

The turn out for ASGO’s 2017 event was huge and our characters were happy to turn out in a large number. Gotham’s number one villain, Joker, was greatly out numbered when Batman, Batgirl, and Robin showed up to protect everyone in attendance for the event. Along side them were royal ladies Elsa, Aurora, and Cinderella sticking together to and bringing smiles to all the children. Heroes Captain America, US Agent, Deadpool, Rogue, Cyclops, Starlord and Space Ghost were happy to pose for photos and play Science specific games with the kids. And we couldn’t forget Kevin the Minion and his constant search for bananas. Our large group of handlers assisted in meeting families, ensuring the safety of all the characters, and taking advantage of photo opportunities.

A Great Time for All

The new location for 2017’s ASGO Autism Walk definitely offered more opportunities for play for the children in attendance and that’s always a great thing that the Guardians of Justice support. The Autism Space Walk was a huge success and we can’t wait to be in attendance for 2018 with even more great characters to make children smile.
