“In brightest day, In blackest night. No evil shall escape my sight”.
Those who gathered outside World of Comics in Kissimmee, Fl. on February 28th, 2015, all understood the oath of the Green Lantern Corps. Heroes dressed in superhuman costumes, magical gowns and otherworldly outfits all came out to support 5-year-old Armani, who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. Armani who was dressed in the image of Guy Gardner, one of his favorite members in the Green Lantern Corps, met and took pictures with the Avengers, Elsa, members of the Justice League, R2D2 and many more.
The event, appropriately titled, “We Can Be Heroes” raised over $1700 from raffles and donations. Among the raffle prizes were original pieces of canvas art, figurines, gift baskets, vacation trips are much more. All proceeds went to the family of Armani to help assist with the increasing treatments.
After the event, Samantha Santiago (Armani’s mother), said she was thrilled with the success from the event and she couldn’t believe the amount of love and support the community gave Armani.
Samantha says she will be forever grateful to everyone who helped make the event such a success.
Armani has now been switched to maintenance chemotherapy, which his mother says is great news!
